Well... we're doing it. House is sold, bank is notified. My family is moving.
Since sometime in middle school (or maybe earlier), I've prayed that one day my parents would move us out of God-forsaken Tippah county. And now, finally, they're doing it. With jobs in Tupelo and Pontotoc, my parents finally had a reason to get out of dodge.
This change brings about some unexpected emotion on my part. While I'm so excited that I may never have to go back to Ripley, I am sad about leaving my home. Twenty-two years ago, after I was born, my parents put me in my crib in the same room that I redecorated my senior year in the perfect shade of blue. I've spent the majority of my life in that room, and it feels weird leaving it behind, knowing that I may never spend another night looking at my initials penciled in on the corner of the ceiling.
As it is, I suppose I am excited to be moving closer to life, out of the country. And if my parents are happy with it, I am too. Plus, moving to Tupelo puts them an hour closer to me while I'm in Starkville, so a quick trip home will be no big deal.
Here's to new beginnings, a fresh start, and a heartfelt farewell to the home I was raised in.
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:19
